Juanita became interested in art in the 1970’s. She finished a paint by number set started by her teen age son. She thought, “There has to be an easier way!” She took oil painting from Frankie Buckly at a local city summer program and she was hooked on painting. Creating scenes in color was magical and mystical to her.  She attended Ole Miss to get her BA in social work while there she minored in art. While working as a social worker she painted sporadically until her retirement in 1998. She was then free to seriously pursue her art.  Juanita is a full time artist living in Tupelo Mississippi. She paints in oil and acrylics, mostly southern scenes and still life. She loves all methods of painting but, impressionism is her goal. She has studied under Billy Kirk, Roger Dale Brown, Dot Courson and John Patochnick. She has won 1st. place and purchase awards in several competitions.  Her paintings have been displayed at the Corinth Artist Guild Gallery.
